What is the Junior Coaching Program?Throughout the coaching program, players will learn to improve their badminton skills, shots, technique, fitness, footwork and strategy. The junior coaching program runs for an hour for both beginner and intermediate players, with Primary School players from 9:30AM - 10:30AM and High School players from 1:00PM - 2:00PM. Some exceptions may be made for those primary players who would be deemed to benefit from coaching with the High School players. What is the Super Smash Program? The Super Smash Program is the ultimate way for kids to develop their game and play badminton in a challenging, fun, teams and supportive environment. Depending on the junior player's school grade they will be placed in either the Primary School Super Smash or the High School & College Super Smash. The Primary School Super Smash will run from 10:30am - 12:00pm, and the High School & College Super Smash will run from 2:00PM - 4:00PM. Some exceptions may be made for primary players to play in the High School and College age group depending on their skill level. The program starts on February 8th, which will be a compulsory grading day. On this day players will be assessed by the coaches and staff and placed in their relevant coaching and playing groups for the duration of the roster. This process will ensure players are receiving the most suitable coaching experience and therefore the best opportunity to develop and improve their skills. However, at the discretion of a coach, a player may be moved at a later date between groups if deemed necessary and beneficial for the player. The program will be conducted on seven consecutive Saturdays from February 15th through to March 29th. As always, our program is scheduled around the state badminton calendar and Tasmanian public holidays to ensure the coaches, staff, and volunteers can continue to provide support. It is a requirement of the Super Smash Program (not the junior coaching) that the participant is a member of the STBA. Please refer to our Membership page for further information regarding how to become an STBA member.
